Looking to artists such a JR, mainly focusing in on his 'wrinkles in the city' and 'midnight moments' projects.

The J - Junkie

 I wanted to base the next set of drawings on the massive drug problem in ireland. It's not restricted to our celebrities and national figures such as kate moss and the deceased gerry ryan, but plays a heavily dominent role in youtuh culture today.
J obviously being for Junkie , my concepts took paths such as pills grouped together to form the letter as well as needles etc. i also experimented with smoke effects with letters.
An idea for one video piece is to have a figure such as the one in the bottom right. take a joint, light it, take a large puff and exhale a large quantity of smoke. however this smoke would be edited to make it look as it forms a large j ... the camera would start low and pan up .. getting 'higher' and higher with its angle. the background and colours are debateable whether to leave them clear or not.

The J - Joke

The Joke here is how the Irish woman's rugby team were treated after they won a grandslam victory in Italy earlier this year. forgotten is an understatement of their valiant achievement! a feat never achieved before in Irish woman's rugby history. Yet their importance fell by the waist side as public interest fell to the failing men's team with their piteous attmpts at this years six nations. Sketches for this include clowns tackling a running rugby player, lineouts, roots and mauls, convertions... all in the shape of a j .. may be too illustrioned for a typographical brief.

The J - Typefaces

Researching many typefaces sefif and sans serif to investigate what will work best when i decide on my concept.

The J - JAM

J here is for Jam , the Jam that ireland is in economically.. i originally had simply J's spread over toast and cut into the jam itself. like the jam on the top left. however i decided to make this more conceptual and started playing round with political figures bent into the shape of the J, these would be then photoshoped to look as if they were made of jam. A knife would be place in the bottom left of the page, a much nicer plate would be used. as well as a much smoothed sefifed j to match the spread of jam on toast. In the end i decided to scrap the ideas and progress with others.

The J - Irish Space Programme

 one of my first ideas on the state of our nation is the lack of a space programme in our emerald isle. why be one of the dismal countries who restrict ourselves from space exploration.
we have many delapidated airports, yet no rocket launching space station.
The J here is for Jupiter. The time is now for putting Ireland on the map for being one of the first countries to reach that distance in space. Tiocfaidh ar lá !!

One of my many ides for this involves a hybrid of the 2 images to the left ... the donkey pulling the rocket .. forming the j
another mock up is the guiness glass inverted and the pint funtions as the thrusters for the rocket .. the serif of the j is the head of the pint foaming down to the left.

State of the Nation

So i am going to post this brief in two parts. Starting with my 'J' followed by my 'X'.
I will be publishing mainly my reasearch accompanied by a few mock and finished pieces.
